1. Introduction
Gay City Bowlers is committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for all bowlers, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We celebrate diversity and strive to create a space where everyone feels valued, respected, and free to be themselves.
2. Non-Discrimination Policy
Gay City Bowlers does not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on:
• Sexual orientation
• Gender identity or expression
• Race, ethnicity, or national origin
• Age
• Disability
• Religion or belief
• Any other characteristic protected by law
All members, guests, volunteers, and organizers are expected to uphold these values at all times.
3. Gender Identity & Expression
• Bowlers may participate in teams and competitions in alignment with their gender identity, without restriction.
• No individual will be required to disclose personal medical or legal information to participate.
• Gender-neutral language will be used in all official communication and documentation whenever possible.
4. Safe & Respectful Environment
• All individuals must be treated with dignity and respect.
• Harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behavior (including slurs, misgendering, or exclusion) will not be tolerated.
• Any incidents of discrimination or harassment should be reported to league leadership, who will handle them with confidentiality and seriousness.
5. Pronouns & Names
• Members are encouraged to share their pronouns, but it is not mandatory.
• Everyone should respect the names and pronouns used by others. Deliberate misuse of names or pronouns is considered harassment.
6. Inclusive Facilities & Accessibility
• Whenever possible, venues should provide gender-inclusive restrooms or allow individuals to use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity.
• The league will strive to select accessible bowling venues to accommodate all players, including those with disabilities.
7. Representation & Advocacy
• The group’s leadership will include LGBTQ+ voices in decision-making to ensure inclusivity.
• Gay City Bowlers will actively support LGBTQ+ causes and organizations, partnering with community groups when possible.
8. Reporting & Accountability
• Any concerns or violations of this policy should be reported to league leadership via [insert reporting method].
• Reports will be taken seriously, handled confidentially, and addressed in a fair and timely manner.
• Consequences for violations may include warnings, suspension, or removal from the league, depending on severity.
9. Continuous Improvement
Gay City Bowlers is committed to ongoing education and improvement regarding LGBTQ+ inclusivity. This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it reflects best practices and the needs of our community.
